Healthcare Quality and Safety

We promote safety and quality in the provision for the benefit of service users. We do this through:

• Setting standards on safety and quality in healthcare
• Monitoring healthcare services to ensure these standards are being met
• If we believe there is a serious risk to the health and welfare of healthcare service users then we may undertake an investigation into safety, quality and standards of healthcare services
• Providing advice to the Minister for Health and Children and to the Health Service Executive
• Operating schemes aimed at ensuring safety and quality
• Engaging on patient safety initiatives at national and international level.
