National Standards for Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections
The Health Information and Quality Authority (the Authority) is the independent statutory body with responsibility for developing and monitoring compliance with national standards for health and social care services. The Authority’s purpose is to drive improvements in safety, quality and accountability across health and social care.
One of the Authority’s key objectives is to develop coherent person-centred standards for health and social care services, and given the current importance and the challenges in reducing Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAIs), the Authority identified the need to develop National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections as one of its priority areas.
These National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections will be the national standards for use across the Irish health and social care system.
