This information sheet is designed to answer some of the questions you may have about the “When things go wrong - driving learning while supporting patients, families and clinicians”
project (the “Project”) and your participation in the Project. For further detail of the background to and objectives of the Project, please read Project Information and Background.
Who can become an Individual Project Partner?
Any individual patient, clinician, provider or member of the public over the age of 18 years can become an Individual Project Partner.
What is an Individual Project Partner?
The Health Information and Quality Authority recognises that patient safety is a priority shared by all stakeholders and any guidance must be developed with the involvement, engagement and consultation of patients, clinicians, providers, members of the public and other stakeholders.
As an Individual Project Partner you:
- Will inform and drive the national and international patient safety agenda
- Play an integral role in fulfilling the objectives of this project
- Enhance individual and organisational learning.
- Further improve the meaningful patient – provider partnership.
What will be expected of individual patients, clinicians, providers or members of the public as project partners?
Individual Project Partners will be asked to give their feedback or views.
These views will inform the project outcomes and the International Consensus Guidance.
Individual Project Partners can give their feedback by:
- Giving one-to-one contributions to a member of the research team during the first consultation period
- Contributing to one of the ten (10) Focus Groups. All Focus Groups will be publicly advertised and held between October and December 2007
- Responding to any surveys that the Authority may post on its website
- Commenting on draft guidance during the second consultation period
