Guidance review for pre-hospital emergency and patient transport services and COVID-19

Status: Published on

To assist the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) and the National Ambulance Service in their response to COVID-19, the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) has developed a series of evidence summaries and reviews of guidance.

This review set out to identify and summarise guidance issued internationally to support organisations providing pre-hospital emergency services and patient transport services in the context of COVID-19 and beyond. Documents identified were grouped within the following three categories:

  1. Authoritative guidance documents
  2. Non-authoritative recommendations or lessons learned
  3. Descriptions of measures introduced in the context of pandemic settings, published as information rather than as part of guidance or recommendations.

This review is accompanied by an Excel database of the guidance identified, which is available here.
