The draft National Standards contains twenty standard statements under five themes:

• Governance and Accountability,
• Person-Centred Approach to Reviews of Patient Safety Incidents,
• Workforce,
• Reviews of Patient Safety Incidents,
• Sharing the Learning for Improvement.

The standards will play an important role in ensuring that the reviews of patient safety incidents are conducted in a transparent way which enhances the future quality and safety of patient care.
