Healthcare
One of our key objectives is to develop person-centred standards for healthcare services. We monitor compliance with these standards.
We ensure that the standards are person-centred, measurable and support the delivery of high quality and safe care. When developing standards we consult with a wide range of stakeholders, service users, healthcare professionals and the general public. They are developed based on evidence and best practice within Ireland and internationally.
- We are currently developing National Standards for Safer Better Healthcare. These national standards will provide the building blocks for quality and safety throughout the healthcare system, creating a common understanding of what quality and safety.
- National Quality Assurance Standards for Symptomatic Breast Disease Services (SBDS). These standards define how the quality of service provided in the eight SBDS centres can be measured.
- National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections. These national standards provide a framework for health and social care providers to prevent or minimise the occurance of healthcare associated infections, such as MRSA and C Difficile, in Ireland.
National Hygiene Services Quality Revew 2008: Standards and Criteria. These Standards and Criteria continue to provide a useful framework for providers to plan and monitor their hygiene services. However, in the future, services will be monitored for compliance against the National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections.
