To guide the user through the process of identifying and selecting implementation support tools and support actions for a specific set of national standards using a digital interactive tool. These support tools and actions aim to help address the enablers and barriers identified for a specific set of standards. The selection of support tools and actions are linked to implementation theories and frameworks.
Aim
Instructions for using SITAS
You have identified enablers and barriers to implementing the national standards during the standards development process. You can now apply these enablers and barriers to step 1 of this digital tool. In step 1, use the 5-point Likert scale to identify if the statements listed describe an enabler or barrier to implementing the set of national standards you are assessing.
Remember! It is possible that some statements listed in step 1 may not be identified as an enabler or barrier throughout the standards development process. In this instance, you can use the option ‘I don’t know.’
In step 2, a list of target end-users will be produced. Target end-users are ultimately, the individuals who will be using the support tool or who the support action is aimed at. Select from the list, target end-users that you wish to focus on for implementation strategies and then support actions and tools.
In step 3, a list of targeted behaviour change intervention types will be produced. These behaviour change intervention types help to identify the underlying function of the implementation strategy that will address the selected enablers and barriers in step 1; what is the purpose of the implementation strategy? What do you want your support actions and tools to achieve?
Select the behaviour change intervention type you want the support actions and tools to address.
Please refer to the Guidance on how to use SITAS (Selecting Implementation Tools and Actions for Standards) for further information on behaviour change interventions and what they mean.
In step 4, a list of the top 10 implementation strategies based on enablers and barriers selected in step 1, will be produced. Select the implementation strategies that are the most appropriate and applicable for the specific set of standards. Also, consider the underlying function that you want the implementation strategy to address as selected in step 3.
Remember! To ensure compatibility between the implementation strategy selected and the behaviour change intervention type selected in step 3.
Please refer to the Guidance on how to use SITAS (Selecting Implementation Tools and Actions for Standards) for further information on implementation strategies and how they were selected.
In step 5, a list of support tools and support actions will be produced according to the implementation strategies selected in step 4 and underlying functions in step 3. Select the support tools and actions that are most appropriate and applicable for the specific set of national standards.
