- Positive Behaviour Support plan (PBSP)- An individualised, value-based care and support plan that involves analysis in order to understand why behaviours that challenge are occurring by identifying potential triggers and focussing on altering these triggers to reduce the likelihood of such behaviours being repeated. - Trigger- Something that causes someone to feel upset and frightened because they are made to remember something bad that has happened in the past or something they have a dislike to. 
- Assessment of need- A process carried out by suitably qualified professionals to identify the needs (e.g. healthcare, financial, social) of an individual who may require health or social care services. 
- Delayed discharge- When a person is deemed fit to leave a hospital or service but cannot do so due to other unrelated factors.

- End-of-life care- Care and support given to people who are near the end-of-life and who are not receiving any intervention to cure or control a disease. 
- Length of stay- The amount of time a person has been accommodated or present in a particular health or social care service. 
- Placement- The process of identifying a suitable temporary or long-term residential or day service for a person with care and support needs. 
- Positioning- Deliberate placement of the patient/service user or, a body part to promote physiological and/or psychological well-being.
