Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), which is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was first identified in December 2019. In response to the evolving pandemic, the international research evidence base is rapidly expanding. HIQA’s evidence summaries are undertaken at the request of the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) and or its subgroups or its Expert Advisory Group to inform national strategic decision-making. Reviews of international public health measures have been produced to support the Health Protection Surveillance Centre’s work on producing public health and infection prevention and control guidance. This work by HIQA helps ensure rapid access to the best available evidence relevant to the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak to inform decision-making at each stage of the pandemic.
In this section you will find a range of evidence-based reports to inform decision-making, health service planning and policy formation. At the request of NPHET groups, a number of these reports continue to be updated on a regular basis to reflect the latest developments related to COVID-19.
