The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) has today published 10 reports on healthcare services in Ireland.

HIQA inspects public acute hospitals and rehabilitation and community healthcare inpatient services against the National Standards for Safer Better Healthcare to promote quality improvement.

Published today are two inspection reports on infection prevention and control in Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar and University Hospital Waterford, and four inspection reports on medication safety in Cavan and Monaghan Hospitals, Our Lady of Lourdes and Louth County Hospitals, St Michael’s Hospital and University Hospital Waterford.

HIQA has also published four reports on rehabilitation and community healthcare inpatient services. The inspections focused on governance and risk management structures, and measures to ensure the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections and the safe use of medicines in these services. Inspection reports have been published on Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services in Harold’s Cross, Benbulben Rehabilitation Unit: St. John’s Community Hospital Sligo, St Joseph’s District Hospital in Ballina and Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar.
