HIQA commences engagement to inform review into urgent and emergency care in the mid-west region of Ireland

Date of publication:

The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) is inviting people to inform its independent statutory review to inform the delivery of safe quality urgent and emergency care in the mid-west region of Ireland.

Earlier this year, the Minister for Health requested that HIQA conducts a review of urgent and emergency care in Ireland’s mid-west region with the primary objective of ensuring safe quality acute care in the region. As part of this review, HIQA was requested to consider the case for a second emergency department within the region in the context of the population changes in recent years and ongoing pressures at the emergency department at University Hospital Limerick.

To inform the review, HIQA is now seeking the views of patients, family members, members of the public, healthcare professionals, representative groups and interested parties in the mid-west region.

Visit our consultation page to complete the submission form. Submissions are open until 15 January 2025.

Ends.
