HIQA launches public consultation on its next corporate plan

Date of publication:

HIQA has today launched a public consultation on its draft Corporate Plan 2022–2024 and encourages members of the public and stakeholders to share their views on the future direction of the organisation.

The corporate plan sets out the steps HIQA will take to fulfil its mission of Safer Services and Better Care for all. Our broad and diverse remit has grown substantially since our establishment in 2007 and will continue to do so during this post-pandemic phase. The draft Corporate Plan 2022–2024 outlines HIQA’s core values and operating environment, and sets out the key objectives we wish to achieve by 2024.

Launching the public consultation, HIQA CEO Phelim Quinn said: “When we went out for consultation on our previous corporate plan, we could never have anticipated what was awaiting us in 2020. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on HIQA and health and social care services has been substantial and it has helped shape how we developed our new corporate plan. We want to improve the quality of the work we do and the best way to do that is to listen to the views of those using, providing, funding and planning health and social care services.”

Mr Quinn continued: The last 18 months have shown clearly the importance of collaboration and integration in health and social care services. Over the next three years, HIQA will continue to collaborate with partners to influence the delivery of safer, better services for the Irish public, will address the outcomes and recommendations of the Nursing Home Expert Panel on COVID-19 and will build on its successful National Care Experience Programme as well as the continuing the work of evidence synthesis to assist with government policy formation. HIQA will continue to build on our collaborations, while establishing further constructive partnerships.”

The draft Corporate Plan 2022–2024 is available on our website www.hiqa.ie. To take part in the consultation, please complete the short online survey by 5pm on Thursday, 18 November 2021.

Following the consultation, all submissions will be reviewed and will inform the final version of the corporate plan. When approved, the Corporate Plan 2022–2024 will be submitted to the Minister for Health for his consideration. Following this, the document will be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas.

You can find the survey from the link at the top of the page.

Ends.
