ePrescribing Recommendations

HIQA is undertaking a public consultation on draft recommendations for a national, community-based ePrescribing programme. This consultation aims to elicit views from patients, service users, service providers, and others on the new ePrescribing service. The public consultation runs from Friday 22nd June to Friday 3rd August 2018.

This consultation aims to elicit views that will inform the development of Recommendations for a national, community-based ePrescribing programme. Through its health information function, HIQA is working to ensure that high quality health and social care information is available to support the delivery, planning and monitoring of services, and to make recommendations to the Minister for Health in that respect.

ePrescribing is used to describe all aspects of the generation and transfer of prescriptions electronically in the community. A national ePrescribing service can deliver significant benefits for patients, service users, service providers, and others involved in the process. Patients, service users, service providers, and the general public are given the opportunity to provide feedback and become involved in the future direction of the ePrescribing programme.

The submissions will be used to inform the work of HIQA and of the ePrescribing Recommendations Advisory Group in the development of Recommendations for a national, community-based ePrescribing programme which will be submitted to the Minister for Health.
