This report provides an overview of the first five years of HIQA’s regulation of designated residential centres for adults and children with disabilities in Ireland. HIQA commenced regulation of this sector on 1 November 2013. This report provides insight into the quality and safety of these services over time, what residents have told us about and what we have observed about their experience of living in these services, and the challenges that remain.
