    As a registered provider or person in charge of a designated centre for people with disabilities, you are legally required to notify us within certain time frames about certain incidents, events or changes within your centre.

    The Chief Inspector of Social Services, as part of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA), is responsible for the registration of designated centres, including nursing homes.

    We monitor and inspect residential services in order to protect vulnerable people of all ages who are receiving residential care services and to ensure that these people are receiving an appropriate standard and quality of service.
