In our second quarterly bulletin of 2022, we highlight the ways in which we are supporting the Department of Health, the National Screening Advisory Committee and the HSE in their decision making by reviewing topics such as:

COVID-19

The Health Information and Quality Authority’s (HIQA) Health Technology Assessment (HTA) team publishes and submits reports and advice at the request of the Department of Health and related groups tasked with the national COVID-19 response.

This work helps ensure rapid access to the best available evidence relevant to SARS-CoV-2 to inform decision-making at each stage of the pandemic.

HTA

Our HTA team has also begun work on a number of Health Technology Assessments. These assessments review a number of aspects of the technology under review, such as the clinical effectiveness and safety, cost-effectiveness and budget impact, organisational and social aspects, and ethical and legal issues. This work supports decision-making by the Minister for Health and the HSE.

To easily summarise these reports, the HTA team has launched the HTA and evidence synthesis bulletin, which details all the work completed in the previous quarter.

If you would like to find out more about the work of HIQA and the HTA team in their response to COVID-19, you can here.

The bulletin will be updated quarterly and will be shared across our social media platforms.

If you would like to receive the bulletin to your inbox directly, you can request the bulletin from htanews@hiqa.ie.
