HIQA has a remit to:

• monitor compliance with the National Standards for Safer Better Healthcare in public and private healthcare services.
• conduct statutory reviews or investigations into healthcare services where there are potential serious patient safety concerns impacting on the health and welfare of patients using those services.
• and to regulate all service providers (undertakings) of medical exposures to ionising radiation.

This overview report summarises the key findings from this work across healthcare services in 2024.
